San Marino Backyard Wedding |Denise + Roy|

When Denise first inquired about her wedding and mentioned it would be a backyard wedding, I couldn’t have been more estatic! I seriously adore backyard weddings! They’re so intimate, fun and full of love. Which is exactly how Denise + Roy’s wedding turned out to be. It had rained during the week so I was a little worried, but the weather gods were on our side and gave us a gorgeous, overcast day this past weekend. We started the day at a beautiful residence in San Marino. I seriously could have shot at and around this home all day. Just gorgeous.

Thanks to Theresa Huang’s Team of TH Makeup & Design for doing such a fab job on Denise’s hair and makeup. Also, big thanks to Kelley Lee Gin of Picture Perfect Events. Kelley did such an AWESOME job of turning a backyard into a gorgeous venue for a wedding. And last but not least, much love and thanks to my awesome friend Cindee for shooting with me that day.

Happy Thursday!

This image of Denise gives me goosebumps. So beautiful.

I wasn’t lying when I said this residence was gorgeous. Look at that view of the backyard. And Denise, ofcourse. ;)

While I was with Denise, Cindee was with Roy getting shots of him getting ready.

Love this shot Cindee got.

Don’t you love that Denise’s engagement ring isn’t a traditional diamond ring? I love that Denise + Roy march to the beat of their own drums, together. Does that even make sense? You get the point! ;p

Some portraits of Denise before the first look. Just stunning.

Their first look. They look so happy. :)

Seriously! I could have shot here all day.

Love this shot of Roy!

After the first look, we headed to Arroyo Park for some fun.

Denise + Roy make such a gorgeous couple. Something about them is just timeless.

<3

Denise wanted a picture of the Colorado Bridge in the background. Love how it came out.

This is my favorite shot from the ceremony. And how cute are the kids in the center of the image?!

Can’t come to the wedding because you’re overseas? No problem! So cool, right?

Can’t tell you how much I adore these next two images.

Bumblebee lights. They are the best. I want them all over my room.

Trying something a little different with the rings and paper lanterns. Love the hint of blue from Denise’s ring.

Denise + Roy! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful wedding with us! Congrats again and have a safe trip to Taiwan! xo!

Mai - connie these are such great photos.. you captured the emotions and setting so beautifully!! and i love that you called them bumblebee lights.. i like them even more now!! <3

san jose wedding |tenh + derek|

One of the reasons why I seriously love being a wedding photographer is getting to meet so many awesome people I probably never would have if it weren’t for my job. I know I say this all the time, but I really have the sweetest couples EVER. I have been waiting very, very patiently for Tenh and Derek’s wedding ever since our San Francisco engagement session. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. 3 weeks ago, Tenh + Derek flew me out to San Jose to be part of their special day and I couldn’t have been more honored. It was a day filled with laugher, love and very happy tears. I was actually referred to Tenh by one of my brides Esther (who was also in the bridal party) and I couldn’t be happier and thankful to have met both wonderful ladies.

Tenh + Derek! You know you guys rocked my world, right?! ;) Seriously had a blast documenting your love.

All right. The part you’ve been all waiting for. The Eye Candy:

Enjoy!

How adorable are her Kate Spade shoes? And don’t get me started on her dress! GORGEOUS.

Getting all beautified by make-up artist Linda Ngo.

Sigh. Her dress just melts me.

Tenh looks like a ballerina princess here. Just stunning.

Handsome Derek getting ready at the hotel as well.

Some images while we were waiting for the limo to pick us up for the ceremony. LOVE LOVE LOVE the yellow flowers and black bridesmaid dresses!

A bouquet of yellow orchids never looked so good.

Hellooooo gorgeous light! And hellooooo gorgeous bride!

I totally love this image. Classic limo. Classic bride.

I was debating if I should post this image since it was a test shot and was underexposed, but I just love the way it came out. So I just had to! The ruffles on her dress is just to die for.

The recessional is always such a happy moment.

After the ceremony, the bridal party and I headed out to a gorgeous park Tenh + Derek had scouted for photos. And I gotta say, it is awesome when brides schedule plenty amount of time for portraits. Love it!

They do fierce so well.

This has to be one of my all time favorite bridal party image ever. Tenh looks so happy and you can just feel the love and support from everyone.

After the bridal party images, it was time for Tenh + Derek to do their thing.

Gorgeous.

Half the bridal party chose to stay with us for photos and I think it was the first time the bridal party was having more fun than the couple. ;) It was like I had my own cheerleading team with me. One of the groomsman was next to me the whole time ooh-ing and ahh-ing, taking photos with his i-phone and emailing them to their friends. It was seriously so much fun.

I just might have to move to San Jose. The light is just gorgeous!

Love the next series of images!

My fave shot of the day. So serene and beautiful.

And I end this post with a few of my favorite and intimate shots from the reception.

:)

Don’t you love how Tenh is wiping away her happy tears?

wedding at palm event center

Back in July, I had the pleasure of 2nd shooting for the awesome possum Sarah K Chen. We flew up north for Helen & Chris’ gorgeous vineyard wedding and had a blast. I still remember stalking/admiring Sarah’s blog/work back when I had first started shooting. So it’s pretty awesome to have become friends and actually shoot together. Thanks for having me along, Sarah! Can’t wait to do it again this weekend!

And don’t forget to visit Sarah’s blog for Helen & Chris’ wedding and the full round-up of vendors!

Enjoy the pics and Happy Tuesday!! :)
